Omalos Route

Overview

We have arranged a one-day trip for exploring the Rocky Mountains of west Crete with plateaus, beautiful gorges, magnificent views and also various far-out places that are only reachable with Land Rovers. 

We will start our day by driving through the vast orange groves of Western Crete. After this, we will head towards the gorge of Therisso for a mind-blowing journey with beautiful views. At this place, we will stop for coffee and also see the beautiful lifestyle of the village that is quite relative to the revolution of Crete. Then we will start climbing the White mountains and also make a stop at the village of Lakoi. At this place, you can enjoy the beautiful scenery and take photographs. You will also enjoy some off-road adventure and then we will move towards the highest point of the way and also get a chance to see Samaria Gorge from above. Moreover, you can see a lot of eagles and vultures from above. After this, you will climb down towards the plateau of Omalos and have your meal at the traditional taverna that is present at the edge of the Samaria Gorge. At this place, we will give you a warm welcome from Aristotells. You will give enough time to explore the various places present in their natural habitat. 

After lunch, you will take a drive to the plateau of Omalos and enjoy the traditional environment of this place. Then we will move towards the village of Sebronas and here you will follow different routes and we will stop in the forest to get fresh water. Furthermore, our last stop will be at the village of Vouves where will we get a chance to see the oldest olive trees and enjoy coffee then move towards hotels.
